Maybe you are better off with the 4600. It is generally a higher rated
machine than the 2400. Compare one versus the other, item for item. For
example, compare the speed of the CPU in each machine, compare the size of
each hard drive, and compare the size of each screen, etc. If you were not
required to fork over more cash to get the 4600, it is very possible that
you would end up with more for your money than the original deal for the
2400.

Good luck.

> This is my problem, on Nov. 20 I bought at a store close to my house a
Dell Dimension 2400, for 740.00, it included CR-R, Floppy, 256 MB Ram,
WinXP, My first mistake was not to buy it directly from Dell. But well, it
can not be undone. When I brought it home, I noticed that I was not the
first person to have use it. I went to the store, they insisted it was brand
new.
> I said OK. This is my first time using XP, my old one was 98 SE. Anyway,
next day, I discover that there was another user account (Maria Marin) my
name is Edna Frese. (I have beginnign to hate Maria Marin). I called Dell,
they told me that the only way that that could happen was becasue she was a
previos owner. It was registered on her name. Went to the store, they kept
insisting that it was new. I even took to the store some papers that showed
that some of my documents were ending up on her settings.
> I found the bill of lading of the PC, and it arrived at the store on Nov
6, 2003, there are doc. from MM that I found from the 10th to the 14th, I
bought mine on the 20th.
> I was frustrated wit the store, but Dell told me that there was a way that
they could fix it. I was neer able to delete everything from MM, the PC
would say that they were systems and could not be uninstalled or deleted.
> Finally, last week I got the awful system error that turns the screen blue
and tell you all kind of information. I was gettng that error, every day,
sometimes 2 times a day. Last Sunday, it frozed. I was never able to get my
documents and not even upgrades that I bought. I took it to the store
Monday, they wanted me to wait until they send it to the technician, and
take it back, I worked through the internet, I was going to loose quite a
lot of money, I had a deadline. Anyway, the only thing they could do was
give me another model, the only one available was Dimension 4600.
> The problem is that he did not give me the owner's manual, because I wrote
the other manual with the errors information. He also made me keep the same
disks, Since I did not see the computer in the store, I noticed when I got
home that instead of Roxio this ound had Sonic, I had already bought an
upgrade for Roxio. The Jasc progran that this new one has I already bought
it, there was no problem becasue they send me the installation instructions.
> I wonder if anyone can help me in terms of having a similar experience, if
I should request the store owner to give me the correspondent manual and
discs and if Dell as a company could do something to that vendor. I do not
know what, but at least some kind of reprimend to them.
> Well I did not want to take all your time, I need help.
