Hi
VPN capability can mean VPN pass through, which actually means that it would allow VPN through but would not do any thing VPN wise.
Or VPN End Point, which means that the Router actually have a sort of VPN server build in.
Depending on what you have the Network need to be configured to deal with VPM too.

Good Morning,
I have to admit to being totally out of my depth and in dire need of assistance.
I have a small local net, mainly running XP SP3, with one oddment running Ubuntu.
The Ubuntu is used as a mail server and filestore.
I want to be able to access this filestore remotely. To this end I purchased an ADSL (wireless) router which has native VPN capability.
Thinking that would give me secure connectivity to my net. I think it does but too secure! I can connect remotely to the router it seems but no further.
I was expecting to be able the invoke network neighbourhood after connecting and then be able to browse the various shares on my local net, but sadly, that is not the case.
Could you tell me please, what should I have done, and what I could do now to get it going? I'm not too bothered about the Ubuntu, I'm pretty sure it could be persuaded to conform to the Windows environment if I could successfully get through to that.
Thank You.
