But he wants to use the high-speed data functions, not the low-speed modem
functions. Using the Bluetooth serial port limits you to dial-up speeds and
networks.
Right-click on the Sprint programs's .EXE, select Properties,
select Version (if that tab exists) and you might find out
who actually wrote it (almost certainly won't be Sprint).
Who else provisions 8330's besides Sprint? Their connection
software may work as well and not have the features you don't
like.
BTW you can get 1XRTT data (80K up/down) through fones
that support AT cmds - not EVDO data rates, but still usable.

Thanks for the info. I would be more apt. to use the "Sprint SmartView"
if it
would minimize to the sys. tray.
I can't find who to contact about the program itself.

Sorry but you'll have to. No version of Windows includes the ability

Hmm. I am doing / have done just that with Kyocera 3250's
and other fones for years on many flavors of Windows.
Mind you, this is on a USB cable connection and the 3250
knows Hayes AT commands.
Can you "talk" to the BB via HyperTerminal? What does
it do when you issue an AT command?
My experience with Bluetooth is that a BT device gets assigned
a COM port when it's connected. If that is the case with the BB,
and it responds to AT cmds., then you can use it as a "Hayes
Compatible" modem on the COM port that BT assigns to it.

I have a blackberry 8330 and am able to use it as a modem, but I do
not
want
to use Sprint Smart View for the connection manager.
