Re: D-link DWL 650+ doesn't detect networks

Hi Barb,

Thanks for the reply. I've disabled the "4x" mode in the D-link configuration for the 650+. I have two routers - one is a di-624 rev.C, which is the main router. I have another linksys wrt54g with dd-wrt installed on it as a repeater. I'm a few feet from the repeater, and about 20 feet from the main router. Both have the same SSID.

I've just recently been getting intermittent connections with the wireless signals. When the card sees them, it sees both (one stronger, of course). It will even occasionally connect (to the stronger one - the linksys). But then the signals will drop out, and it will think there are no networks in the area. I remember this happening before.

I do believe this card worked before, a while ago.

Any ideas are very welcome!

thanks,
allie

Make sure you are not trying to use the proprietary "turbo" mode.
how far are you from the router? What brand and model access
point/router are you trying to connect to? did this card ever work
before or is this new?

Hi Folks,

I'm having problems with my D-link DWL-650+. I have this PCMCIA card installed in a Toshiba Satellite A10-SP129. The 650+ isn't detecting the 802.11b network in the area, which is WEP encrypted. I have another card, a Proxim Orinoco Gold 8420-WD, which detects and connects to the network just fine.

I've installed the latest d-link driver. I've tried finding the network using windows, and using the d-link software.

There is only one network in the area, but i doubt it would see the others if they existed.

Any ideas? Am I dealing with a dead card here, or is there something i can do in xp sp2?

thanks,
allie
