HI,
Is it possible to print to a printer on another workgroup? My PC is on
the
same subnet and I am able to ping the PC connected to the printer.
Obviously i am not able to browse the printer but is there a way i can
configure the printer using IP address?
Thanks for any help.
Ramesh
Workgroups have no effect on file and printer sharing. A computer in
any workgroup can access a computer in any workgroup.
To browse to another work group, open My Network Places, click "View
workgroup computers", and press the Backspace key.
To access another computer directly, regardless of what workgroup
either computer is in, click Start > Run, then type the other
computer's name in the "Open" box in this form:
\\computer
To add a printer belonging to another computer, regardless of what
workgroup either computer is in, open the Printers folder, click "Add
a printer, and specify its location in this form:
\\computer\printer
Thanks Steve for the clear response.
That solves my problem.
Ramesh
You're welcome, Ramesh. :-)
