Hi John, Thanks for your reply
Not a brand comp. build locally of best components Gigabyte, Nvidia, 4 gb
ram etc.
I checked the Win firewall in Control P. and in network connections it is
OFF
I use only AVG Anti- Virus and that has no firewall
This problem started when I had Vista running on an other comp. so than I
blamed Vista for it and I believe others had the same problem.
So 3 weeks ago I reloaded the PC1 and all worked fine but the problem came
back again???and PC1 was not stable on the Internet
Than I checked/upgrade lan drivers and Netgear Router and put a fan on the
router.
Result, PC1 stable on the net.
Changed PC1 cable on router ports no change also changed from Lan 1 to Lan 2
no change
When loading a comp. I ask for workgroup and let Win XP do the rest, all I
do than is apply Sharing and security on the HD's and I be very careful with
comp. names.
On the Netgear all comp. are on automatically and there and working fine
according to the Router
On the other computers, PC2, PC3, PC4, I can see all the Hard drives on
PC1 but when clicking on it I get the message ..... see below.
"run" box from start button. Type \\PC1 and hit enter: I have done this
and I got the page \\PC1 and the drives which are nominated for sharing are
there, again clicking on it , the message...
I have checked the management/permissions on PC1 and compared it with the
other PC's looks like ok.
But I am not familiar with the connection settings like , local area
connection/properties etc. but file and printer sharing is on in Local A C
I hope that I have been clear

Are you CERTAIN that no software firewall is running within PC1?
Check for Windows firewall, and 3rd party firewalls like Norton and
McAfee.
Is PC1 a name-brand computer, like a Dell? If so, these come pre-loaded
with much much software, and you might not realize what's in there.
You didn't say if PC1 EVER worked, or if this problem is recent.
Please tell us more about PC1.
Are all host addresses achieved automatically? i.e, by DHCP server within
the netgear router? That would be a good idea right now.
Go to some computer other than PC1 (give us some names, please) and bring
up
"run" box from start button. Type \\PC1 and hit enter. This circumvents
the use of the network browser, which can be unreliable.
Tell us what you find.

XP Professional, networked workgroup, Netgear routerD
I have a network with 4 computers all work well except one comp. name PC1
With PC1 I have access to all computers on cable or wifi
None of the others comp. (than PC1) have access to PC1 and that's the
problem.
When I try to access PC1 I get the following message when addressing
drive
on PC1:
\\pc1\d is not accessible . you might not have permission to use this
network resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions
Not enough server storage available to process this command
I have reloaded PC1 and it was OK, but the problem came back again.
I have upgraded the LAN card driver
I have upgraded the router software Netgear DG834PN
I had overheating problems with router that is fixed with a fan on it
No problems to access the internet
I would be grateful if any one could help me please
.
