Currently, I am able to access a Win Vista machine and a Win 2K
machine from this WinXP machine on a peer-to-peer workgroup network.
However, when I attempt to access the WinXP machine from either of the
other two machines, I get a message: "\\STARWARS is not accessible.
You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact
the administrator of this server to find out if you have access
permissions. Access is denied." I have done a variety of things that I
found on the Microsoft Knowlegebase. Nothing has worked. I have
exhausted my options. Does anyone have any suggestions?
This is most frequently caused by a misconfigured or overlooked personal
firewall or other security program. What anti-virus program do you have?

I would diagnose the problem, using logs from "browstat status", "ipconfig
/all", "net config server", and "net config workstation", from each computer.
Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely
(Download browstat, and note how to run a Vista command window!):

Hello Chuck, I tried many of the hints that you have published.
However, the XP machine still denies access. I have executed the
config programs that you require for both machines. Please advise
regarding any further suggestions. Thanks!
Vern-notebook is running IPV6. Disable that, and try again.

I appreciate the advice. However unfortunately, your suggestion did
not work. I suspect that the problem lies with the XP machine because
I experience this "access denied" situation whether I am using the
Vista machine or my Win2k machine as the workstation. Any other
suggestions?
OK, the old "... access denied ..." error can have many causes, and IPV6 is
simply a commonly seen one here.

From Vern-notebook:

Now, we can see a problem from CHARTRANDNB.
There are 2 servers in domain SHAKESPEARE on transport \Device
\NetBT_Tcpip_{84D9D3E0-3B02-4A2D-978B-AD2571EFA11C}
Unfortunately, we can't tell which 2 computers are seen, because you haven't
provided any diagnostics from the third. Again, from Vern-notebook:
Browsing is NOT active on domain.
Master browser name is held by: CHARTRANDNB
No master browser conflict, but there is an SMB problem with Vern-notebook.
