Hi clever people,
I've got my simple home network working thanks to the responses to an
earlier post ('How do you assign permissions to...'), now I'd like another
tip if poss:
Having network with just laptop (XPHome) and pc (XPPro) and router, I had to
set up a new ac for myself on the laptop, where I had previously been using
a 'joint ac', so that I could get into my own files on the pc from the
laptop.
Operating from the new ac on the laptop is a bit of a pain though, as I had
done quite a lot of customising on the joint ac, and also because when I
open docs from the new ac, it wants to reconfigure each Office prog as I
open it.
I would prefer to go on using the ac set up that I am familiar with, but do
want the extra security of restricting my own pc file to me only, so can
somebody tell me how to log on to my pc share as 'me' from the joint
account. I believe I have to type something like '\\soandsopc\soandsoac\
/soandso: password' at the run prompt, but can't quite get it right.
Or on the other hand, I might have got totally the wrong idea!
Thanks for all the helpful advice out there.
