I have seen tons of posts and web pages on this and have tried
literally everything I read and nothing has worked. Here is what I
have done so far:

Updated the BIOS to original version and tried every other version
available too
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset log.txt
WinsockFix
Reinstalled TCP/IP
Reinstalled network card drivers
Ran a system recovery
Did a clean install of Windows XP Pro (w/reformat)
Replaced TCPIP.SYS file with one from a working computer
Bought a new network card
Bought a new wireless network card (Wireless connection shows up as
disabled, then gives a "connection failed" error when I enable it)

None of this has worked. This computer was just working fine a couple
days ago. Could it be related to the BIOS at all? What else can I
do???

Do you have a "firewall" or anti-virus software installed? Several
anti-viruses softwares (McAfee nad Norton) also install a port
blocking application (part of the Internet worm scanning feature) that
can block access.

As for the wireless network card, you also need to have a compatible
(same wireless signal level) router in your area and it must have the
wireless signals turned on.

BTW: How do you connect to the Internet? Directly with a boardband
(cable/DSL/etc) modem or with a router?
