RE: svchost.exe Application Error.

Following is the netapi32.dll file's properties which I got it from my
computer by getting the properties of the same:

Type of File: Application Extension
Opens with: Unknown application
Location: C:\WINDOWS\system32
Size: 324 KB
Size on disk: 328 KB
Created: 01 January 2007, 00:30:00
Modified: 01 January 2007, 00:30:00

File Version: 5.1.2600.2180
Description: Net Win32 API DLL
Copyright: © Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Other Version Information:

Company: Microsoft Corporation
File Version: 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
Internal Name: NetApi32.DLL
Language: English (United States)
Original File Name: NetApi32.DLL
Product Name: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
Product Version: 5.1.2600.2180

How can you know whether the above dll file is registered or not? Will there
be any problem if I register the dll file more than once?

I've gone through the site which you've mentioned. Also I've downloaded a
patch namely, LM22B.EXE in regard of the updation of the latest version of
netapi32. But I did not find it easily to update the version as they have
told to do it by creating it in a floppy drive and things like that. I don't
have a floppy drive in my computer. So is there any solution for it?

Awaiting reply,

Thank You,
Manjesh.

Okay try this:
Open a run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /reset click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Reboot your machine, does this help?.

If this didn't help, try to turn the Router For about 40 secs OFF then the
Computer.
Turn the Router ON , wait for 30 secs or so then Turn the computer ON, does
it help and you retain connectivity?.

Look in this path for the file:
C:\Windows\System32\netapi32.dll
Right click it, select properties and note the Details of the Vendor, the
date of creation and the size?.

netapi32.dll is Microsoft LAN Manager DLL, do you have this installed?,
try to register the DLL by doing this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/94069
Open a run command and type in:
regsvr32 netapi32.dll click [OK]
Reboot your machine, does this solve the issue?.
When the last time you update the firmware for the Router?.

Again, spyware/malware does come and say we are Here, they just drop by
silent, just to be safe make sure all okay and your DNS and IP as specified
by your ISP.
P.S the NetBio over TCP/IP is on the Internet Protocol TCP/IP properties, if
you gone to the Network connection and Right click your Wireless/Wired LAN,
select properties, highlight the TCP/IP click Properties and see the settings
there and you will find it.

Hi Nass,

Thank You for the response. But, still can't troubleshoot the problem.

I'm using a router for the internet connection using ethernet card, not a
modem. Also, the IP address and the DNS server address are given by the
internet connection provider.

And, I'm quite sure that my system is free of viruses, malware and spyware.

Well, could you please tell me what is this NetBIOS over TCP/IP?

And, I did not get you what you meant by registering the dll file?

Awaiting Reply,
Manjesh.

I'm using XP Profession SP2.

I'm using a broadband connection. These days I'm getting this application
error dialog box. When i try closing it, my internet connection gets
disconnected and stuck. I've to restart my machine to restore my internet
connection. But, when I leave the dialog box as such then there is no such
problem.
I think there is some conflict in the network sort of files.

Could anyone please help me out to trouble shoot this problem?

Following is the details of the error which I took from the Event Viewer:

Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000
Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module
netapi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0000a3c0.

Thank You.

Hi,
First I will make sure the machine malware and virus free by scanning your
system, then make sure you have the right DNS settings correct on your TCP/IP
properties:
*Right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
-Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
-Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
-Type the correct DNS address in the Preferred DNS server box

Do you have NetBIOS over TCP/IP Enabled?.
The file located here:
C:\WindowsSystem32\NetapI32.dll
Try to register the dll by:
regsvr32 NetapI32.dll click [OK]

Uninstall the modem and reinstall it or look on the vendor site for updates.
