Last I ever checked, the free version of ZoneAlarm is not compatible with
ICS. Never was. Windows firewall is. Most of the free firewalls aren't
compatible with ICS but their commercial versions are. You might get away
with using ZoneAlarm on the laptop however.

The wireless network works! Also net access on the host also is OK so
THANK
YOU, Steve and Ralf. Now for the next problem: the laptop. It's new so
runs
Vista Home premium. As mentioned it will join the network and on the
network
folder it displays the host pc, the router and residential gateway device
under category network infrastructure. Under properties, connect to the
net
appears to point to the usb modem on the host pc. (Have ticked the ICS box
for this on the host pc) However when I set up the connection, the
internet
test fails. The IPV 6 and 4 settings are on auto but no joy.
Could you help again? BTW, firewall, is Zonealarm, do I need to put the
laptop ip address in the trusted zone? However I can access network shares
from it so it is not being blocked.
Thanks in advance.
Mike
