Hi Chuck,
I have 3 printers connected to my XP Pro server. How can I get them setup to
print. I need to specify an IP and am unsure how to do it.
regards,
Steve

Hello,
I have a box setup with windows xp pro. I have it partitioned so that xp is
setup on one partition and the other is to be used for file storage. I'd like
to use this box as the server for storing files in a peer 2 peer network.
Everyone on the network would have access to these files. There are 6 pc's on
the network.
Is there a tutorial anywhere that explains how to go about this?
regards,
Steve
Steve,
Everybody here has a tutorial of some sort. Mine is in 2 parts.
Physical and Logical Networking:

I got it working. Thanks.
I am having problems with an older canon 1200 d760 laserprinter.
Windows firewall keeps blocking my attempts to do a test page from the
server.
Under network and internet connections in control panel i clicked exceptions
tab and i checked files printer and sharing and also the name of the printer
i installed. It is still blocking my print attempts. Any suggesstions? I am
able to get another printer on the network to print.

Steve W.
Steve,
If you have the Vista computer able to print to another printer, just not this
one (both connected remotely to other computers? connected remotely, directly to
the network? thru a print server?), the problem may be with the drivers for
this printer. Do you have drivers that explicitly support Vista?

Hi Chuck,
The server is running win xp pro and I can't even print a test page to the
printer without receiving the firewall block from xp.
I'm not sure how to proceed.
Steve
This is the same server that you DID get file sharing working on, and you shared
another printer?
What is the complete and exact error message or observation? Details matter
here.
