I have a D-Link Dl-524 wireless router just sitting around and would

I am currently using a Netgear WGR614 for wireless around my house.
Basically, is it possible to turn the D-link wireless router into a
access point?
Check the D-Link router's User Manual and see if it has a specific
"Use as access point" setting. My Belkin router does.
If not, you can do the same thing by:
1. Disabling the D-Link router's DHCP server.
2. Assigning it an IP address in the same range that the Netgear
router uses.
3. Connecting the Netgear router to a LAN port, not the WAN port.
