Constant Traffic to Router

I have Windows XP Pro connected to a Motorola wried/Wireless router and then to the Internet via. a cable modem. A few months ago, I saw constant traffic to the router of 15-32Kbps in both directions -- varying but always about that amount. I know it's to the router because I have my other 2 computers shut off and when I disconnect the cable modem, the traffic stays the same but when I disconnect the router, traffic stops. I also have a VOIP adapter (Packet8) but I shut that off for these tests.

I don't see any connections that would explain what is going on. About a month ago, the traffic stopped and started again a couple of days ago!

The module that is causing the traffic (according to McAfee firewall) is "Generic Host Process for WIN32 Services" which is listening on a load of different ports.

Any idea how I can find out what's happening in stop this?
