I'm using ZoneAlarm (ZA) 7.0.337.000. On each machine, in ZA, Firewall
Zones, the IP address for the other computer has been placed in the
"Trusted" Zone, not the "Internet" Zone. Each machine also has the
router/DNS server in the "Trusted" Zone. Looking at the configuration,
I notice that my two Network Adapters on both the laptop and desktop are
in the "Internet," not "Trusted," Zone, which strikes me as odd. Or
maybe placing them in the "Trusted Zone would bypass the program
control, and this is why they are in the "Internet" Zone?

I'm also using IBM Access Connections (AC). It is possible for this
application to forcibly disable file and print sharing, ICS, etc. for
each connection profile. However, the "Network Security" box is
unchecked, so I don't think that aspect of AC should be creating any
problems. ICS isn't enabled in Windows, either.

NetBIOS Over TCP is set to "enable" on both machines for their
respective adapters' TCP/IP settings. The adapters in the laptop are
the Intel PRO/1000MT and the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG. The desktop has
a RealTek 8110S. Neither should have built-in firewalls. Neither
computer is in the NAT router's DMZ. The Windows Firewall/Internet
Connection Sharing service on each machine is set to Started, Automatic.

The shared folders on the laptop no longer display under the laptop's
"My Network Places," in any category. I think I deleted them, and now
they aren't reappearing, only the desktop shares.

Thanks.
