Would appreciate any help that could come our way on this!

Check for Electro magnetic interfierence in your location/area
check for recently installed EMI near the modem/router also
was there also some new installation of SatDish/CB radio antenna in your vicinity?

This may not be relevant to the router. I have noticed that a torrent program or a news grabber (grab-it) want to monopolize the connection. I have even gone into task manager and set the torrent program to a lower priority without luck. The program may be throwing so many requests at the router that it gets a bit overwhelmed.
Just another thing to look at.
