Re: can't access wired lan at same time as wifi link

I am using static IP addresses.

I just changed the ip address for the wifi adapters from 192.168.0.XX to
192.168.1.XX
(while the ethernet wired lan is 192.168.0.XX) and now it seems to be
working. Your post yesterday my time/early today your time did mention
changing the third group digit in the ip address which I have just tried.

Now I can put the proxy program we use on to my desktop to route internet
to the laptop without having to change anything else on the household network
or shiftingchanging our internet gateway.

Thank You verry verry much for your time on this matter.

I don't seen anything wrong with your setup, I'm assuming either your wifi
was not up at the time of the "route print" or the wifi has static ip's (or
maybe NAT enabled).

I'm trying to see the difference between your lan turned on and both
lan/wifi are turned on.

Well, everything seems good. Your network should work, although, it might
have a problem is both networks have the same subnet. If your wireless is
192.168.0.x, the other one needs to be 192.168.1.x or something
different.
If both interfaces can access a gateway called 192.168.0.101 - the
computer
will have a hard time picking the right one (someone correct me if i'm
wrong).

Do ipconfig on command prompt and give me the data, also give me the
route
print again. Thanks.

Apologies for slow responce .I had to go to my day job today.

I tried the value that worked for you and I got "the route addition
failed:
either the interface index is wrong or the gateway does not lie on the
same
network as the interface. check the IP address table for the machine.

192.168.0.101 is the IP of the machine on our 10Mb/s wired ethernet Lan
that
handles our internet connection via proxy software.

I have just removed the persistant link and then done route print
rp1-4-2007.txt to get a text file of the output of route print.

yes it is there under persistant routes
the ip address i used is also under default gateway.

I tried it without brackets.

I can now from my desktop browse the household wired lan while
the
laptop
is
connected to the desktop via wifi. The desktop still can't
access
the
household shared internet connection though while the wifi usb

connected though.

I have the [# hops] at 1 is this correct?
the internet goes:

of course replace the brackets with correct data. Simply run
route

command prompt to get a hint of how it works.
