nslookup works, but no connectivity with names

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I have a computer that will get an IP, gateway and DNS entry via DHCP.
If I ping with a name, like yahoo.com, I get an error message when I try
to ping with a name:

Ping request could not find host www.yahoo.com. Please check the name
and try again.

However nslookup gives a correct ip and if I put the ip in the browser
it will bring up the page. So, it seems as though DNS is working and
resolving, from the nslookup, but the stack doesn't use the information.

This is the case for both the wired interface and the wireless USB that
I had working previously. Any suggestions?
