I found a resolution. It seems Windows Update is wrecking some havoc amoung
some XP and 2003 machines. An MSCE friend says he's had seven machines, in
the last three weeks, where the user profile was corrupted and, therefore,
couldn't gain access to some Windows software.

He told me the solution was to log onto the "administrator" (best to reboot
the machine) account and delete the profile in question, then log back on
using that user. Since his was a, sort of, machine account he didn't have to
worry too much. I, on the other hand, had to reconfigure a ton of software,
but the lagging DNS problem went away, and my web browsing speeded up
dramatically.

If I try to ping any of these devices they respond instantly, except
"asidev", "localhost", and "asi4550a", which respond after the 7-8 seconds.
I've tried to flush the dns by issuing the "ipconfig /flushdns" command and
rebooting multiple times. Still no luck.

Does anyone have any idea why this occurs on my machine logged in as me?
