Can Windows XP be used as a VPN server? If not, what are the
options for a
VPN server?
We have 3 retail stores that each have a peer to peer network, mostly
running Windows XP. The stores run an accounting program with point
of sale
and inventory. We would like to update inventory items from one
place (HQ)
to the 3 stores. We thought of VPN connections to accomplish that,
but we are not running server software anywhere.
Is there a simple way to do this?
Thanks for any help.

XP has a native PPTP VPN server function built-in. The downside you
can only have one incoming VPN connection at a time. Lanwench's
suggestions are good or upgrading to a server class OS like W2K3 or
SBS...
....and even in that case I'd still want the VPN tunnel being handled not by
Windows, but by network kit. It's much less trouble.
