VPN problem

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Dear all,

I encountered a strange situation with one of my laptop when trying to
use the Cisco VPN client.

Here is the situation:

I was given a support notebook with Windows XP SP2 on it. From my home,
I installed Cisco VPN client 4.8 on it. Then I am abled to connected to
my company's network via the VPN client and the connection process
completed successfully. (the VPN client's banner says so)

But I cannot access any of the server I suppose to be allow to see. I
ping both the symbolic name and IP address and all failed.

Then I disconnect the VPN client from the notebook and use my old
Windows 98 notebook and installed the same VPN client software on it.
It works. I can see all the servers and connected to it and do support
job.

Then I disconnect the VPN client from the Win 98 notebook. Install the
same VPN software on a Windows XP SP1 desktop. It works.

The next day, I borrowed another laptop from my tech support with
Windows XP SP2 and Cisco VPN pre-installed on it. When I used it at
home, it works.

So any idea why the 1st notebook is not working?

Thanks

Rgds,
Chip
