i have windows xp professional in my computer and my friendand has windows
xp home edition and im trying to share some files with him we both run the
wizard and set up a workgroup i gave him my workgroup name but when we both
go to view workgroup computers he does not see my computer and i dont see his
either so do you think is because he is runing xp home edition and im runing
proffesional xp or do you think is because he has not allowed file haring ,
because he told me that he has not enable filesharing so do you think if he
turn on file sharing im gonna be able to see his computer and he will be able
to see mine or share files??????
That's a really long sentence. I hope that I understood it correctly.
Windows XP Professional and Home Edition can share files with each
other just fine.
What connection option did you specify to the Network Setup Wizard?
The wrong option would tell the Wizard to disable file sharing.
If your friend's computer hasn't enabled file sharing, you won't be
able to see his computer or access its files. Enable file sharing.
Make sure that any firewall programs (Windows Firewall, Norton,
McAfee, PC-cillin, ZoneAlarm, etc) on both computers are configured to
allow access by other computers on a local area network.
Network browsing through My Network Places is inherently unreliable,
and I recommend not using it.
To access your friend's computer from your computer, click Start > Run
(or press the Windows key and R at the same time) on your computer and
type this line in the box, substituting the actual name of his
computer:
\\computer
please help me i really need an aswer very

You're welcome.
