Re: Connection problem due to event id 2505

Hi
Here is the support page for IE7,
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/support/default.mspx
It is hard to know what system restore resort to in such a situation.
Might be an idea to uninstall IE7 revert to IE6, and when it is working
reinstall IE7.

Jack

I am using 2 computers. One desktop and one laptop connected to the
internet via a wireless router. The latop can connect to the internet.
The desktop suddenly is not longer able to connect to the internet,
even pinging several addresses gives a request timed out. I restored
the system to setting from a couple of days before without success. i
also used all diagnostic and repair programs IE7 and XP provides
without success. The desktop operated ok in the morning, but stopped to
be able to connect to internet in any way (browsing, ping, ftp, etc) in
the afternoon. The desktop had not been rebooted. All help welcome, i
really dont get it.

This statement is very broad and does not provide enough info to
understand
the precise nature of your difficulty.
How many computers are involved? How are they connected together? What
precisely you are trying to do?
Computers and networks are not static systems, processes can occur
secondary
to users intentional actions.

Hi,

I read the previous messages on this subject and they suggest to turn
on file and printer sharing in the LAN properties. Furthermore to make
sure that there are not two computers with the same name in the
network. In my case there are no computers with the same name and
sharing has been on since initial setup. The problem accurred suddenly.
In the morning i did not have any problem, some hours later i wasn't
able to contact the net anymore. The PC did not reboot during this
period. My OS is XP Home. I would appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks!
