Using VPN

Hi there,

I have a son which comes and stays weith us sometimes like durting the
holidays and he uses our computer to maybe do some work or collect
resources. He constantly is on the move at university and he is quite
lazy when it comes to bringing his flash drive with him. I have looked
up VPNs and it looks like this is the kind of solution he needs as my
computer is on most of the day so using a VPN makes sense. Only problem
is i have a wireless router from sky and most of the places that he is
at he uses a wireless access point to connect to the internet. So when
i try to connect to his computer or he tries to connect to me he cannt
becuase the public IP address is for the router. How do i get this to
work. It causes many problems trying to connect directly becuase the
windows always connects to the router. I am a begginer to networking so
could you please explain some of the technical details.
Thanx

.
