Your network adapter failed. So what is the question?
Hi Chuck
I guess I'm a bit confused, (it doesn't take much) but the network adapter
is what? I pinged my host and its okay. I have internet access through my
host wireless or LAN. I pinged my laptop(remote) and it fails. I tried
setting up the home network so when I click on view group the error I
described earlier comes up.
Ron,
The network adapter is the device which includes the Ethernet jack. That's the
big fat phone jack, aka RJ-45 connector. We generally refer to it as an
"adapter", and in older and larger computers it may be part of a separate
circuit card. In newer computers, it may be part of the main, or "mother"
board.
You load the adapter drivers, which is the software that lets the computer
itself communicate with the adapter. The adapter than communicates with the
Ethernet cable, and the computer or router at the other end of the cable.
If the Device Manager diagnostics said "network adapter failed", then you have
to start there, and fix that problem first. Without the network adapter
working, you're off the network.
Please read about diagnosing network problems, and about the layer concept aka
the OSI Network Model.

Hi Chuck
I checked the device manager and bothe Network Adapters are working. I
tried to set up my Home network on the Ethernet and on my wireless belkin
Adapter.
OK, Ron, if both adapters are working, let's look at their configuration.
Start with "ipconfig /all" please.

Hi Chuck
I have done everything on your list. It looks like a windows xp repair of
operating sytem is my last resort. I just dont understand why i can't ping my
own computer..its frustrating. I do want to thank you.
No, Ron. See the immediately above request.
And post the ipconfig logs (all computers).Start with "ipconfig /all" please.
