I downloaded and ran Angry IP Scanner. 2 Hosts were alive:

Those would seem to be the router and good ol' Meena. (With the 360 up and
running, WMP 11 running and media set to share, windows firewall off and
norton antivirus disabled.)

"An XBox 360 runs Windows XP Media Center": That is not something I'm clear
on. I thought some people have pcs running Windows XP Media Center, which
can connect to the 360. (The alternative being to use XP running Service
Pack 2, and either WMP 11 or Zune.) As for setting up an administrative
account on the xbox 360 itself, I had no idea that was possible. That will
take a little more work on my part to figure out.

I hope that provides some helpful information - remote registry being off,
perhaps?

Separately, with fear I read page on the confusion and system malfunctions
that come with multiple firewall installations, or the improper / ineffective
uninstallation thereof. This computer is "old", having been built in 2002.
In the past I've tried out 3rd party firewalls (Zone alarm, shields up), and
wonder if their bones are still rattling in the system.

- the Xbox Live Connection is fine: all Confirmed, and NAT is OPEN.
IP Address is 192.168.0.101, subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, DNS settings are
Automatic, and both Internet Gateway and Primary DNS Server are 192.168.0.1


PC:
The Windows Firewall is off. The only 3rd party protection I have is Norton
Antivirus 2005, which is set to Permit all WMP and Zune program activities.

All Windows updates automatically download, security and otherwise,
including Service Pack 2 and Microsoft Net 2.0.

Looking at my Services, WMP network sharing / Zune / UPnP / SSDP are all
automatic and running ("Started").

Running ipconfig /all, I get:

Internet Connection Sharing is not turned on (Xbox connects through router).

Both WMP 11 and Zune are fresh installs (even tried uninstalling and
reinstalling). And having just installed WMP 11, I don't have a DRM folder
to delete (suggested in other threads).

The very fact that the PC can see the Xbox, but not vice versa, hopefully
will lead to a solution.

If there's any more information I should provide, please let me know.

The results of running "ipconfig /all" are in my original post. I followed
your links and downloaded browstat. Running "browstat status", I get:

the XBox. In a network problem, you need diagnostics from all participants.

Anytime that you say "one computer can't see the other", it's a case of SMBs not
getting from one computer to the other. There are a dozen or so possible
reasons for this. The most frequently seen would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

1. I do not have a personal firewall, and Windows Firewall (from the
Security Center) is "off" while I attempt to establish a media share with the

Meena is getting SMBs from one computer - probably itself. Beyond that, not
much to tell. Both Meena and the XBox 360 (unnamed) are on the same subnet, so
should have connectivity. If you're certain that there's no firewall problem on
Meena, then we have to dig deeper.

Get either Angry IP Scanner, or SoftPerfect Network Scanner, and run a subnet
scan. Save the results to a text file, and post the results.
