My friend has a Dell desktop that is running Windows XP Home edition. It also

XP. He was able to connect to the internet & share files & print from his
printers. His hard drive crashed and he took it in the computer shop and they
installed a new hard drive and then Installed windows 2000 Pro on it. I have
the workgroups setup to MSHOME and it wont see any off the network. The
laptop also has two LAN connections that say connection unplugged. I tried
running the ICS wizzard and it says that I cant run the wizzard on the 2000
machine. How do I manually configure the XP machine and the 2000 pro so they
can see each other on the MSHOME network.
David,
With both computers in the same workgroup, configure the Windows 2000 computer
for automatic (dynamic) settings.

But your friend should have had Windows XP re installed. Windows 2000 has a
limited lifespan left. New products like IE V7 won't run under Windows 2000.
