I have windows XP. In connecting to the internet I have selected "Saveautomatically -
username and password". The result is I can elect to connect
for all users of this machine or anyone on the network. On anotherpartition
I have installed Windows Vista RC1. In trying to connect to the internetvia
a broad band connection I get a security error (UID and Password). I goback
to XP, disable auto connection on my default connection and setup a newand
connection with the same UID and password - again it fails because of UID
Password violation. So it seems I can only connect via my originalconnection
setup. (I am going to contact my ISP to verify my password. --- I cut an
pasted the ID to make sure it is correct.)
Pasting user ID's and passwords can sometimes fail.
I know, I know, is should NOT matter. But I have personally
experienced it. I can't remember exactly which provider I was
using at the time, but if I cut/pasted the password into the login
box, login would fail. I checked and rechecked, making sure there
were no leading/trailing spaces, etc.
If I manually typed it in, just for the one time necessary for it
to work and then stick, bingo.
Might be an "on purpose" thing to discourage crackers...dunno.
But this brings up my question. Where is the User Name and Password stored
for the Broadband connection?
Thanks
Johnnie
