Re: Now no access to two folders

Each of the three computers (2 desktops, 1 laptop, all xp pro) have the same
three accounts set up on them, User1, User2 and User3. None have passwords
and I don't want them to if possible. All three machines can access anything
I set up as shared (to the very bottom of its tree) on any of the other
machines no matter who is logged on with one exception: the laptop won't
allow access to User2 and User3's My Documents folder from any other
machine, any other account, whether I share them or not. The laptop will,
however, allow access to User1's My Doc's folder from any other machine, any
account.

As a test, I shared C:\Temp on one of the desktops and all machines can
access everything in it down to the last file.
As another test, I shared a folder 2 levels deep on the laptop and it is
accessible to the other two machines, but it's parent folder is not. I
assume that's how it's supposed to work.

authentication
(Advanced or Simple File Sharing), or non-Guest (Advanced File Sharing
only)?

If you're absolutely certain that non-Guest authentication is used,
look
at
individual permissions problems.

I'd have to say I'm using Guest authentication, since I have SFS
enabled.
How do I know if I'm using 'SFS or Advanced FS'?

If you have "Use simple file sharing" selected, you are running SFS.

If SFS is running, then Guest authentication is in force, and you simply
won't
be able to share My Documents or any other personal folders, for network
access.

The two desktops are set the same way (SFS enabled) and they have no
trouble
sharing their folders, even with the laptop. This is what is so
frustrating.
I cannot find what those two have in common between them that is missing
on
the laptop.

Are you logged in to each computer using the same non-Guest account, with
an
identical non-blank password on each computer?

Can you access any folders in the same path on each computer, from each
other
computer?

Can you access any folders in any path on each computer, from each other
computer?
