Re: Frequent demand for WPA

Thanks your recommendation to check as far as a "repair" option, for
repeated activation request
by WPA, within Microsoft XP support solutions. Have tried in vain but could
find nothing.
The actual course of my problem apparently lies within following reasoning:

XP retail is the only Version (since April of last year) that continues to
allow internet activation.

OEM reinstallations that use the COA license key on the side of the case,
or from a booklet, (since April of last year) no longer have the internet
option.
Those OEMs supplying SLP ("Bios Locked") preactivated recovery media have
never
required activation, and are not effected by the change in policy.

To summarize: While it is annoying, the previous internet activation
masked how often you might have been required to actually activate previously
with a reinstallation.

Because of theft, Microsoft felt it necessary in the case of
OEM reinstallation media using COA-based schemes to be forced to use
telephone activation.
This better assures Microsoft that the COA installation is on the same
machine
for which the license was originally purchased.

Please note that my Operating system consists of WXP Greek Home Edition OEM
version.
Therefore after I had to reinstall on 24 Jun 2006 started to ask for
repeated activation...
Which finally I managed to secure by Telephone reactivation thru local MS
Office..
My system now runs perfect..but I dont know for how long???
My question therefore lies as to why??
Although my machine now fully-up-to date at Windows update, and Automatic
updates enabled.
Following items are not displayed on Add/Remove programs ( although 'show
updates" is checked.

Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)

Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications (KB905474)

Also "Wgalogon.dll" file is not within C:\Windows\System32 folders.

To further facilitate the case, I went to the options column of Windows
update and clicked on the
" history review of all revised updates which were installed sucessfully on
my PC".
Therein I found out that the : "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool"
(KB892130)
which it was not displayed in add/remove programs, was duly displayed on
Saturday 24 Jun 2006.
amongst the revised updates sucessfully installed on my PC .

Therefore I presume that this slip up is to be found amongst all the WXP
Greek Home EditionOEM versions.
And I pledge from Microsoft XP support section to come up with a solution.
Regards,

Check Microsoft support - they do have a "repair" option for repeated

I would like to know your views on the frequent problem that I face with
WXP
asking from me to activate my system too often...ie after a crash ,I had
to
format and reinstall my wxp from my OEM CD-rom disk..
Everything went fine untill I was asked twice for system activation on Jun
30 .06 which I did and everything went fine untill recently, that I was
asked
again to reactivate twice...which I did it always thru the tel/line with
new
installation codes...
Now everything back to normal..
Because I find it very annoying I pledge for your views nad ways to face
this irittating problem...
Thanks
