Hello,
I've got a wireless network (workgroup) set up in my home.
Cable Modem and the XP Home machine (Den) are connected to the wireless
router by CAT 5 cable. The XP Pro machine accesses the internet through the
router. No problems there. Also, I can view the shared folders on the XP
Pro machine from the XP Home machine.
The problem is that I can see the XP Home machine on the network from XP
Pro, but when I try to reach the shared folders or connect to the printer
(connected to the XP Home machine; LPT 1) get a window something like this:
Connect to Den ?X
(key icon)
Connecting to Den
User name: DEN\Guest (<---entire line grayed out)
Password: (blank)
_ Remember my password
Ok Cancel
I've disabled simple file and print sharing on the Pro machine.
I've booted the home machine in safe mode with networking and set
permissions on the shared folder
I've installed server 2003 security tools and followed the directions I
found on here already.
Nothing is working. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Is Den\Guest enabled for network access? There are a couple small settings, so
read this article carefully:
