at the same time. I would be very appreciative if someone could
address my question and provide guidance.Norton Internet Security had
to be dumped off the older computer as it was hogging resources for
several minutes at start up. Thanks again to anyone who responds th

You don't need to turn off the router or disable the Internet
connections to be safe. This is a total waste of time. You've got a
firewall, an antivirus, and are behind a router. As long as you then
practice "Safe Hex" that's as good as it's going to get. Here are links

I don't know what your question really is because you apparently wrote a
whole lot on the subject line (which few people read). The subject line
refers to sharing but the body of your post seems to be talking about
the safety of turning off the network connection.

What do you really want to know?
