If you suspect that you have an unknown personal firewall, you're going to have
to look in several lists, for unrecognised entries.

Look in active processes.

But use the other diagnostics that I suggested. They should narrow things down
a bit.

I think I might be messing something up. I downloaded browstat to my docs,
extracted with winzip to my docs. I opened the command prompt and typed
browstat status >c:\browstat.txt and it said "browstat is not recognized as
an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" The same
message when I tried browstat listwfw >>c:\browstat.t. When I tried notepad,
the notepad did open. Where might I be missing something?

Hi Chuck. Using the system wizard I added c:\utility at the end exactly as shown. I created a folder in my docs called utility and put the browstat file in it. When I open the run, cmd it opens a command box with heading "C:windows\system32\cmd.exe"
In the black portion it has C:\documents and settings\Phil> at that point I
type "browstat status >c:\browstat.txt" and I still get is not recognized as
internal or external command. Here is a copy of my new path
"%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\DLLShared;C:\Utility". I have read and
re-read the article but am embarrassed to say I am still missing something.
Please note I am trying all this on my system before getting on the phone
long distance with my son to help him.

OK, Phil, no problem.

What folder is browstat.exe in? You got Path right. If you put browstat.exe
into "C:\OtherFolder", type "C:\OtherFolder\browstat status" to test it, then
"C:\OtherFolder\browstat status >c:\browstat.txt" to run it.
