of sense but it works for me and after having such hassles i felt i

to me ill be able to search the usenet and find it...lol
Windows XP Sp2/Sp3 ICS problem fix....LOL
Does your ICS work one minute then not the other ? ridiculous isn't
it..
Ok
On client machine
1. Go to network connections
2. click create NEW connection
3. create new LAN connection/connect to another computer
4. the network wizard will start up
5. it might say you already have an ICS connection / say NO give me
more choices
6. make sure workgroup and names are correct !! then just click through
as you would normally
Next on Gateway/ICS host
1. Disconnect from internet go to network connections
2. properties on your adsl connection
3. Then Advanced, then UNTICK allow users to use ICS
4. at this point my XP Sp2 machine will start configuring my LAN
connection and FAILS
5. go to your LAN connection, then properties in TCP/IP
6. don't allow it to be automatic, TELL IT to use 192.168.0.1 then
below that 255.255.255.0, leave the rest alone.
7. then go back to network connections and go to properties on your
adsl connection
8. Then Advanced, then TICK allow users to use ICS
This should sort the problem if it doesn't work then do gateway/ICS
host first and/or reboot and try again.....it seems everytime I reboot
its 50/50 chance of getting the ICS going on next reboot ! arghhhhh !!
James,
What was the original problem?
Since it appears that your solution doesn't produce a permanent effect, wouldn't
it make sense to try and solve the problem? If the symptom keeps coming back,
isn't it worth that?
