Re: Delete erroneous LAN-Web connexion in XP-Home ?

How can I launch the network setup wizard ?
The bad connections are "shared access" ( translated from french) and "local
computer" These do not exist on the other laptop of same brand / age / OS /
HW config

Hi,

my brother in law has tampered with LAN settings because had some
diffciluties accessing the web.
Now he has launched several times the build-in XP-HOME "create a
connexion"
wizzard and has create a new home network connexion,
and an internet-sharing-PC connexion where the PC is assumed to share it's
connexion with ohters

That is not the case

The laptop in question only has to have a WiFi LAN access via a WiFi
router
The other laptop in their home can access the web

The one he has trouble with also has, but establishing the connexion is
terribly slow

I imagine that having these unappropriate connexiosn can slow down the PC
connecting. But I haven't been able to find a way to
remove them. And if he right-clicks them in network connexions windo, he
gets a message that he cannot do so, because they are in use.

How can I help him ? Could booting in safe mode allow to remove unwanted
connexions ?

TIA for your expertise please !

What are the names of the network connections that you want to remove?

Run the Network Setup Wizard (not the New Connection Wizard).
If the Network Setup Wizard detects the router's shared Internet
connection, tell it to use that connection. If it doesn't, select the
connection method "This computer connects to the Internet through a
residential gateway or through another computer on my network".
