It's not clear whether your present setup allows you to be on the Internet
and share data over the cable at the same time - ie. the laptop has two
adapters. Also, the answer depends on how you connect to the Internet. In
any case, assuming you connect through a cable or DSL modem, your best
choice is a router. In order to network the 3 computers you would at least
need to buy a switch or a hub, and you could probably find a router with a
built-in switch for about the same price.

Hi,
I use a laptop with which I share data with another desktop. There s
another standalone desktop which requires to share the Internet connection
which I have on my laptop. Right now I only have a one to one crossover
cable between my laptop and the data sharing desktop.
What would be the simplest cost effective way to accomplish both, data
sharing with one desktop and internet sharing with another one?
