Re: Have a wireless 'always on' broadband system, on a server computer in
the dining room, being able to connect to internet, (OS is Win XP Pro).
with a wired Sitecom network 5 port switch system to 2 bedrooms, working fine
in morning, then in afternoon, computers in bedrooms could not connect to
internet, the pc icon has the exclamation mark stating not connected, yet
is shown on the server computer downstairs as connected and working fine.
Checked all network connections etc, are correct on all computers. Have
replaced the Sitecom network switch, with a new one. Just to point out I
cannot use a wireless or router system in the house, having wireless unit in
computer, coming in from an aerial on the roof. I cannot see the other
computers on ?my network places?, yet says the LAN is connected? Please, can
someone help me? I am in the process of selling this property and don't
want it to not go through, because of this problem.
Since this happened, now cannot get online when using administrator
account, yet icons says its connected, but can access the internet on the
other 2 user accounts, any explanation of this please?
To add to this, in reply to Chuck, giving me good advice, (yes, do supply
server PC to tenants, free,) was unable to check for a few days: suggested
I do a ?ipconfig /all? this I have done on server and one other computer,
(2nd tenant not in house to check hers). Results are as follows:

OK, to start, you might want to make your problem reports more readable.

http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/how-to-post-on-usenet-and-encourage.html#Grammar
And please post replies in the same thread - don't start a new thread each time.
Don't make us have to hunt for your previous problem report, that makes us work
harder, and you get less help.
Now, ThuyTran shows limited or no connectivity. Please spend some time reading
about this issue - there are several possibilities, so follow the links.

http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/07/limited-or-no-connectivity.html
And post "ipconfig /all" for the third computer as soon as you can. We need
that, to properly diagnose your problem.
Can you tell me if I should use this thread or the original one? When sending
the other ipconfig /all? Sorry about that, thought it would help you, as
I'd sent original a few days before. I am willing to learn. I will try and
get the other computers ipconfig /all as soon as the tenant is in the house.
In the mean time is there anything else I should check on the host & client
computers? I am only wanting to be able to get the client computers to
access the internet, not read any files on the host/server computer, does
this make any difference?
Are you also able to tell me why I'm not able to get online, when in the
administrator account, when the 2 user accounts can get online on the host
computer only? Is this an ISP problem? Thanks for your help so far. I'm
sorry if I come across as not knowing much, can do as instructed, but do
not always understand the why's! Please keep any instructions simple for me.
Thanks.

This thread is fine. But try and type your answers after mine please.

Don't sweat the whys, and the fact that you aren't too experienced here. This
is a place where we all learn. Just be patient and persistent.

And sometimes the smallest detail helps to solve a problem like yours, so be
generous.

Now online access to one of your computers MAY be a problem, in one network
configuration, so please indulge me, make it easier on both of us, and provide
"ipconfig /all" from the other computer. I'll be patient, and await your next
post.
