No need to shout. We hear you fine. ;)
If you're using Simple File Sharing, you need to activate the Guest account for
network access. Then, depending upon what the share is, your network clients
will only get read-only access.

You may also want to check specific settings on the shares, if the above article

Many thanks for your help. I have tried to follow the guidelines at

I have used the Simple File Sharing option and still get the Read Only
problem. Any advice before I pull my hair out?

If you're using SFS, you will get read-only for some files. What path are the
files part of?
Hi Chuck, The files are in a partition that I created. I have set the share
at the root of the drive partition. I have also tried it at a sub-folder

Let's look at the possibilities.
# With SFS, you can only choose to share or not share, and if shared, to make
read-only or all access. This you can do on a share by share basis.
# With Guest access, there are 2 registry settings to check.
