I'm using an ADSL connection and and ethernet card. The little network
icon on my desktop says "local area connection 1 Speed: 100.0 Mbps".
Can someone clarify what this actually means? Does Mbps mean mega bits
per second?
Is this the actual dowload speed I'm getting or is this just some
theoretical speed assuming perfect bandwith conditions? Thanks for
any information.
It is the speed between the cpu and the ethernet card (assuming that the bus
can handle the data rate). Thus, it is merely maximum data rate.
