So Levc is not running "server", "sharedaccess", OR "workstation"? And you say
Levc is the GOOD computer?

http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#Components
Most computers in a workgroup will be running as both a client and as a server.
All computers using Windows Networking should have:
* "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", in the network items list in Local Area
Connection - Properties.
* "NetBIOS Over TCP/IP" Enabled, in TCP/IP Properties - Advanced - WINS.
* "TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper" service running - Started and Automatic.
* "Windows Firewall / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" service (for SP2
systems), or "Internet Connection Firewall / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)"
service (for pre-SP2 systems) running - Started and Automatic.
Any computer accessing shared data runs as a client. All clients using Windows
Networking should have:
* "Client for Microsoft Networks", in the network items list in Local Area
Connection - Properties.
* "Workstation" service running - Started and Automatic.
Any computer providing shared data runs as a server. All servers using Windows
Networking should have:
* "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks", in the network items
list in Local Area Connection - Properties.
* "Server" service running - Started and Automatic.
So let's start by figuring out why Levc isn't running "server", "sharedaccess",
OR "workstation". Once you're experienced with that, then do the same for Ajvc.
Oh yes, you do have connectivity between each computer and the other?

Thanks for the advice on bottom posting? Now, regarding the third computer,
it?s a laptop I use at the office, sorry I left it there but let?s make this
two desktops work first OK?
Working with LEVC, I checked the services running using CONTROL PANEL ?
ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS ? SERVICES and all services are running, Browser, Shared
Access, Workstation and Server. I double checked the services running with SC
CONFIG and Browser and Sharedaccess are RUNNING. Ran NET CONFIG SERVER and
WORKSTATION and here are the results?

But the CPSServ shows no activity at SERVER or WORKSTATION as shown in the

Well, until we start seeing one other computer show up in the CPSServ log for
any computer, we can wait for the third. No sweat.
But we have to figure out the server and workstation bit. We can see
"sharedaccess" above. So here's what you said.
Working with LEVC, I checked the services running using CONTROL PANEL ?# I checked the services running using CONTROL PANEL ? ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS ?
ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS ? SERVICES and all services are running, Browser, Shared
Access, Workstation and Server. I double checked the services running with SC

What's wrong with the picture here? What did SC show for Workstation and
Server? That's a major discrepancy.
Is the 2Wire running in Bridge mode, or Router mode (NAT off or on?)? What's
with the IP addresses (199.20.1.41 and 199.20.1.42)? Those are NOT private
addresses!

Are you paying for ONE public address, or TWO?

I?m a little desperate now, services show RUNNING but CPSSERV don?t find
SOME or ALL of them in my computers? What should I do?
The 2wire is running in Router Mode, public addresses 172.16.1.41 for LEVC
and 172.16.1.42 for AJVC. I?m paying for only one Internet Access and with
the 2wire Router you are supposed to do Networking through the router. It
worked fine with my old (win 98) and long gone (sold) computers.
Thanks!
OK, if you're running both computers as NAT clients, why do you have two public
addresses? If the 2Wire is running as a NAT router, you should have ONE public
address, and any number of private addresses (note the normal private address
ranges!):
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1918.html
If you can run the 2Wire as a NAT router, then run the Network Setup Wizard on
both computers, and select
This computer connects to the Internet through another computer on my network or
through a residential gateway.
<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#NATClient>
http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#NATClient
The 2Wire should be a residential gateway. Then rerun CPSServ on each.
But you should be able to run "SC query server" and "SC query workstation" too,
even now. Why do you keep ignoring that?
