I just came across your message while searching for help on a similar or
perhaps identical problem. Did you get yours resolved and if so, can/will you
enlighten me? I can communicate only one way on my small home network. When I
try to go in the (denied) direction, I get a pop up window with a title bar
saying ''Connect to (the name of the machine I'm attempting to reach). Under
this bar is an icon of two keys on a ring. Under this is a screen which says
"connecting to (machine name) but it then requests a user name and a
password. I have never set up a pass word and cannot find a way past tjhis
screen. Any advice? Don
Hi Don,
It's good that you looked for others with your problem. But you'll be better
off starting a new thread, with a unique and descriptive subject. Help us to
help you.

I will be very happy to start a new thread. Unfortunately, I cannot easily
navigate this site to find a way to do that. This icon you referred to as
being in the upper RH corner ISN"T.
I see that you're using the CDO. In the toolbar (just above the list of the
topics), at the extreme left, should be a pulldown entry marked "Select new
post". Pull down on that, and select Question. You do have to have popups and
scripting enabled for www.microsoft.com.
You might find it easier to use Google Groups - this is
microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web. The GG interface is easier for some
folks.
