pain especially when I'm on another network such as on campus. I've done
everything I can think of, I've tried changing the rokgroup and NEtbui
settings to now avail, I don't know how to fix the irritating fault.

One of the most common causes of this error would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this

Are you using NetBIOS or NetBEUI? Are you using the same on each computer?
NetBIOS Over TCP is the supported, and best known, transport. If you're using
NetBEUI, and having problems, remove it please.

That's a standard error 53, with many possible causes. The most common would be
a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, and there are several more.

Firewall was not on.

I used ipconfig /all off the command prompt and used the link to your
website as saw that the Node Type was set to Peer-to-Peer. After reading your
website and a bit of fiddiling I was able to set it to Broadcast in the
registry and solve the problem.
I am confounded how this was altered in the registry but netherthe less if
it happens again I know how to fix it.
