Hey guys, thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I've already
searched
for similar threads and tried a number of things, which I will detail
momentarily.
I have two identical Dell laptops with (legit) XP pro build 2600, no
service
packs installed. I set up the first one how I wanted it, imaged the drive
and
loaded the image on the second one, so basically I have two identical
installs, except that I changed one of the computer names (LAPTOP1 and
LAPTOP2).
They are networked with a Linksys hub. I also have an external USB hard
disk.
Both machines have 1GB of RAM and 51.1GB of free HD space. The external HD
has 54.2GB of 250GB free.
These are intended to be two standalone machines for use on business
trips.
They will never access the internet, only one another and the external HD.
I have enabled the guest accounts and shared the C: drives of both
machines
and thanks to some of Chuck's writeups I have set the permissions such
that
the user (administrator) of both machines can R/W/E any file on either
machine's C: drive.
When I plug the USB hard disk into Laptop 1 (it becomes the E: drive) and
share it, I can see it in "My Network Places" (either laptop) but if I try
to
access it through "My Network Places" on either drive I get the following
error:

have access permissions.
Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

(Dbqvpn31 is Laptop 1 and I renamed Laptop 2 to Dbpvpn32).
I have, using CACLS, set permissions on all drives with
cacls *.* /t /g Everyone:F
I do get an error with one subdirectory on my external drive, but other
than
that I had no problems.
I have also, in Folder Options -> Sharing & Security added to the sharing
permissions "Guests" and "Administrators" in addition to "Everyone" and
given
them all R/W/E permissions. Ditto for "Security."
I also allowed non-local use of blank-password accounts in the Security
Options. I am super happy with this computer setup with the exception of
Laptop 2 not being able to see the external HD, which contains ~200GB of
data
essential to users on both machines.
Any further advice anyone may have would be greatly appreciated.
