File Sharing Problem

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Okay, this is a weird one. For more than a year I've had a wireless home
network (consisting of a desktop and laptop) running with no major problems.
Recently, however, my D-Link DI-784 wireless router conked out and had to be
replaced. The new one appears to work fine - the internet is always
available on both PCs.

But now something is wrong with Windows XP file sharing. On my laptop, the
file sharing network connection keeps dropping, as if I'd picked up the
laptop and carried it out of range. For no reason at all, that stupid little
PC icon will appear in the system tray and a message pops up telling me that
I'm now working offline. I then try to the Windows XP Synchronize feature,
but it tells me it can't synchronize the files because the other computer
(the desktop) supposedly isn't available. Restarting the laptop usually
solves the problem, but it soon reappears, often as I'm trying to open a
shared file.

This gremlin is really starting to piss me off. A paragraph in an important
Word document was reduced to gibberish, and I blame the file sharing glitch.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

.
