I have posted before but am still having problems. I have a desktop with XP
home and a laptop with XP home setup on a network with a Linksys wireless
router. Internet is shared fine but when I try to share files or my printer,
the files or the printer are never registered as being shared. They don't
show up at all in shared documents. I have tried disabling firewalls and
anti-virus and when I try to view my workgroup (MSHOME), nothing is there,
which is better than when it was telling me I may not have access to view it.
I have checked TCP/IP and it is installed correctly. I have made sure the
names of the computers are different. I have had these computers sharing
files and a printer before with no problems, but that was a year ago. I ran
the network diagnostics scan in Help & Support and it said that my network
adapter default ip gateway ping test failed, the dhcp server test failed, and
the DNS server seach order test failed. Are these definately where my
problems lie. If so, how do I fix them and if not, what do I do?? Thank you
for any help because these are the problems that keep me up at night.

Dave,

Your name is familiar, but I'm not sure if I remember working with you or not,
so I am afraid we shall have to start from the beginning.

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too. Read this article with an open mind.

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
