Printing problem - job disappears without printing or error.

Hi Folks,
At the school where I work there are two Xerox WorkCentre Pro 55 printer/copiers. All staff have laptop computers which can print to them except mine. The jobs go to the computer's print queue and disappear without an error message.
Here is a list of further facts which describe the situation more fully and show what I and the IT support person have done so far without getting a resolution.
* The computer seems to behave normally in all other respects including network connectivity and printing.
* In the list of printers installed the printers show as "Ready" even if the computer is not connected to the network.
* On sending a test page or other job to the printer the job appears correctly and briefly in the print queue ven if the computer is not connected to the network. It then disappears as one would normally expect - without any error message as mentioned before.
* If one selects "Use printer offline" the job is retained in the print queue until the offline status is reversed. The jobs then move from the print queue as one would expect even if the computer is not connected to the network.
* The installation was done by creating a local port (10.0.2.104 to be precise). Exactly the same method works on other computers. The port has been deleted and then recreated.
* Each of the two printers behaves identically. The printers have been removed and reinstalled. The drivers have been reinstalled.
* Disabling the Windows XP firewall (the only firewall on the computer) has been tried without success.
Somehow Windows XP thinks this this printers is installed, connected and it is sending print jobs to in in the normal way... but nothing is actually happening.
Grateful thanks for any help...
Jim Brook
