Hi,
Thanks for the help.
I believe we opened the port 1723 but I will check again since I am not near
the router at this time.
If TCP port 1723 is needed also for remote desktop, I then am very sure that
we opened it.
I can use remote desktop to connect to the other system but cannot use
build-in VPN.
One more question, does this error message have anything to do with DSL
modem and/or router as it suggested?
Many thanks.

Hi,
Trying to establish VPN connection between two XP Pro systems but always got
the following error message: Error 651: The modem (or other connection
device) has reported a problem.
Searching the net and MS KB did not help much as seems most people got this
error has not resolved the problem.
This error is based on using PPTP VPN. If using Automatic VPN type, error
800 then will come out.
Network service installed are: TCP/IP, File & Printer Sharing, QoS Packet
Scheduler, Client for Microsoft Network
Thanks for your advice
