Good start, Brian.
Let's see what we know:
# Each computer is on subnet 192.168.1/24.
# Each computer has compatible node type - Mixed and Unknown are OK.
# Each computer is using DHCP from server 192.168.1.1.
# No evidence of IPV6.
# Need Browstat to diagnose further.
You state that you are using AVG, McAfee, and Sygate products. Each of those
has components (either firewall or antiworm protection) that is known, from
experiences here in this forum, to interfere with file sharing. You need to
read the User Guide for each product, thoroughly, and configure each product
properly.
I'll be happy to advise you as you continue, but this is where you have to do
most of the work. Please let us know what you find, as your experiences may
help others who have your problems.
And PLEASE put protection on Data.
