TROUBLE CONNECTING 2 WIN XP PRO MACHINES

I AM USING 2 WIN XP MACHINES, 1 DESKTOP & 1 LAPTOP BOTH HAS SP2
INSTALLTED, I HAVE CONNECTED THEM WITH A CROSS CABLE.

FROM THE DESKTOP MACHINE, THE LAPTOP IS ACCESSABLE, BUT THE REVERSE IS
NOT HAPPENING, IT SAYS "YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THIS
NETWORK RESOURCE..... ACCESS IS DENIED"

PLEASE HELP ME TO SOLVE THIS.
