Re: Enter network password?

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Steve, sorry for the long absence - I have been sidelined with serious
medical problems and am now trying to get my network working as the
previously identified problem persists.

Here is a synopsis:
Network of laptop and desktop is joined by wireless D-Link router.
Desktop is running ME, laptop is using XP pro.
After a fall update from Microsoft, desktop cannot access laptop through My
Network Places under Explorer. A Network password was not previously required.
Message is "Enter Network Password to make this connection. Resource:
\\LAPTOP\IPC$".
Guest account on laptop is enabled for network access .
Guest account now has a password and is set for autologon.
Guest password is not recognized when entered in desktop as requested.
Laptop Windows firewall is ON with exceptions.
C drive on desktop is recognized as a Netwrok Drive by laptop and
files/folders can be accessed through Windows Explorer on laptop but I cannot
go the other direction.

Many thanks

Garry
